DRUMS and DANCE

Earth Drum Council, a community living the path of the drum, shares several sessions of spirited dance and drumming. Abbi Spinner, student, teacher, and performer of music, drum and dance presents an Elemental Drum Circle and a Hand Drumming Workshop. Fusing drama & illusion the internationally-acclaimed magician Jeff McBride contributes his fantastic talents to their offerings. A workshop on Rhythmic Perception is offered by world percussionist Ken Anoff, and poet and North African jazz drummer DavĚd returns to Starwood. Alex and Joy Wedmedyk present their popular class in Shamanic Drum-Making (a two-day class; $80 fee). Joy also offers Creating Medicine Shields ($25 fee). Michael Markus, B.M. offers The Tao of Drumming and Kung Fu for Drummers.

Colleen Clark, B.F.A. leads sessions on Contact Improvisation, an exhilarating movement form which helps release the body and access the intuition. Madonna Moonhawk teachs Sufi Dancing and Sound Vibrational Healing. Members of Cleveland Aikikai demonstrate the modern, non-violent Martial Art of Aikido. Dancer, teacher, and choreographer Karen Allgire, M.F.A., teaches Ritual Dance and organizes our Bonfire Lighting Ceremony.
