Next Generation

We are happy again to see the families who have enjoyed our events in the past and hope that the families new to Starwood will feel as at home here as the rest of us. Feel free to ask our staff questions and offer suggestions to improve our program.

If you are using the Child Care Co-op/Kid Village, you must volunteer your time in that area, and agree to the rules. There will be a place on your child's registration form to note when you will be volunteering.

As in years previous, we're planning a full and growing schedule of fun for our young people. We're adding new and stimulating programming to our already diverse and interactive daily schedule with arts and crafts, informative classes, rituals, and a community wide parade.

Read Me!

Most parents are great, but past problems force us to include this section. We offer safe play areas and kids programming, but the festival at large isn't your baby-sitter. Kids are monitored only at kids' activities and Kids' Swim; you must watch your kids at all other times. Parents who don't behave responsibly face expulsion. Know your kids' whereabouts, retrieve them from Child Care at scheduled times, and please assist in the kid-specific areas. The pool is the only supervised swimming area!

Childcare/Kids Village Rules

  1. I/We understand the Brushwood policies on minors and agree to comply with these rules
  2. Every child must be registered with Brushwood and Starwood to participate in Child Care/Kids Village
  3. I/We understand that an adult must supervise children under 14 years at all times except while the child is in Childcare/Kids Village. This is especially important after dark. DO NOT ABANDON YOUR CHILDREN IN TENTS ! ! ! A child can wake up, be disoriented and the staff has to spend much time and effort to find the parents.
  4. Neither Ace or Brushwood can or will be responsible for your children during your stay at Brushwood
  5. I/We understand that the use of Child Care/Kids Village is at our own risk and discretion
  6. I/We agree to sign up for two hours voluntary service in Child Care/Kid Village
  7. If the child special dietary needs then I/we will provide their snacks for Child Care/Kids Village
  8. I/We will sign each of our children in and out for morning and/or afternoon sessions each time we use Child Care/Kids Village.
  9. I/We understand that if children are not picked up within 15 of closing the parents will not allowed to bring the child back for 24 hours
  10. I/We understand that if children are left after the closing time we and our children will not be able to use the Child Care/ Kids Village the rest of Starwood.
  11. We believe in using assertive discipline that strengthens good behavior and uses positive reinforcement to offer incentive to misbehaving campers. BY signing this page you are agreeing to follow the rules and understand the consequences if you don't

Consequences

  1. Verbal warning
  2. Time-out away from the group
  3. Time out and can not come back to group for the day
  4. Dismissed from Child Care/ Kids Village for the remainder of Starwood.

Starwood Childrens' Parade

Once again we will lead the children through our magical village for the Puppet Parade on Saturday. Dress the kids up or just let them be creative and surprise you with a costume. Some of the workshops during the week will help the children create costume parts. Join your children (and everyone else) for this fun filled event and stop back at kid village for cookies afterwards.

Be Considerate

Although some snacks and juice are provided at Kid Village and Child Care (contributions are welcome), meals are not! Be considerate of both your child and the staff: Feed your children lunch, and send older children with a beverage - playing in the sun is thirsty work. Kids should have underwear or diapers and shoes/sandals: no naked children, for their safety and health (especially in the sand). Be sure to leave any special supplies (like diapers) with the day boss/volunteers. When you register your child, please inform us of any special need or allergies we need to be aware of.

Helping Out

In addition to the brief volunteer shift, many of our guests like to present workshops or spend more time helping out with craft projects and recreational activities. If you feel you have something you'd like to present or wish to spend more time helping out, you can contact: [Insert contact information here when made available]

Please put Starwood in the subject so we can instruct our spam filters to let your e-mails through. Thanks!
