Ralph Koziarski

Ralph Koziarski (aka Razul Kozi) has been studying woodwinds and music since 1958, including Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He’s performed since 1968 and has been playing with Muruga Booker since 1976. He's performed and recorded with Muruga’s Global Village Ceremonial Band and Free Funk, and they have a 2010 duet release "Solstice Trance Mission". Ralph’s own group is Expedition, which performs jazz-fusion. He also performs solo and freelances with numerous musical groups. He has performed in countless and diverse settings from parties to large concert halls and festivals. Ralph has taught Recorder (flute) and Rhythms & Movement at Detroit Children’s School and Taproot Alternative Schools and has individual woodwind students. In 1985 he was voted “Talent Deserving Wider Recognition” by the Detroit Metro Times newspaper.

Flute Salad

Flute Salad will provide an opportunity for the flutist and wind players of the Festival to come together. Flutist, didgeridoo, and wind musicians of all types and levels are invited to find a common note, drone, chord, song, improvisation, and beyond … connecting us with the Gods & Goddesses of wind and air.

Time Signatures

An opportunity for drummers, percussionists, and dancers to come together to experience and experiment with different rhythms other than the common 4/4 time signature. Rhythms of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 (with the accent on different beats), 5/4, 6/4, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, 10/8 and the all-powerful ONE will be worked on and played with.
